Latest News

With our 6 month anniversary coming up, a few excitements are in the works at Cafe Q:

  • We finally got our Beer & Wine license.  A well selected Local Beers list was put together.  And for your weekend brunch?  Mimosa for now … more to come in the near future!
  • To top the B&W excitement?  Chef JESSE BRANSTETTER , yes the co-founder of Chop Bar, is now our new partner (in crime, you might add!)  He will bring his expertise into our kitchen and get it ready for dinner.  Welcome HOME, Jesse!!!
  • Dinner menu is in the work and coming soon.

Our friend, Mayra Orellana-Powell, introduced us to Alex Roberts.  Alex is a Master Roaster/Owner of Roast Co. in West Oakland, whose coffee we are serving.  Alex and Cafe Q just clicked right from the start with our shares of interests, our visions of how coffee should be served.  Through Alex we befriended with Jesse and the rest, as they say, is history.

How Alex and Jesse met was another sweet story.  In short, Jesse was scouted the Bay Area for the best coffee to serve at Chop Bar when Chop Bar was still a little baby, and that when he met Alex.   So, naturally, our connections and friendships were all formed around our love to surround ourselves with the  best of food and drinks.

Jesse will be our Executive Chef and Partner.  We share a mutual interest in serving naturally raised meats, locally-sourced/organic produce and, most of all, the “less is more” (as Jesse often quoted) approach to cooking.  Freshness and healthy cooking with sustainability practice will be our continued focus.  And of course … ALWAYS, with Quality in mind!

You can subscribe to our page or continue to check back for further development, we promise there will be many exciting dishes coming to Alameda.  In the meantime, we truly appreciate your supports.

"Café Q's menu brings a fresh, healthy alternative to the island. With a focus on local, organically grown ingredients, we serve our guests with quality cuisine without sacrificing value. Comfort breakfast dishes such as breakfast burrito, house-made granola; our lunch & dinner consists of seasonal salads, pasta, and sandwiches, all made to order--fresh from scratch and served with style. House daily-roasted meats, and custom spreads and dressings are but a handful of specialties made in-house. Cafe Q is committed to eco-friendly and sustainable practices, making an effort to conserve and protect our environment."
